Michael Restaino, formerly VP for Belk’s private brand, has joined the 7th Street Public Market team as the new Executive Director. Mike will leverage his more than 40 years of experience in retail management and development to oversee the continued progress and operation of the Market, and to support Market vendors.

Smith, President and CEO of Charlotte Center City Partners. “His impressive track record speaks volumes about his careful approach and passionate leadership, which are assets that will be important for the 7th Street Public Market as it continues to celebrate the food culture of the Piedmont and Charlotte.”
In his most recent role at Belk, Mike was responsible for managing the domestic and international sourcing matrix, logistics operations, apparel and textile design, and technical support teams for the brand. He received numerous recognitions throughout his eight years with Belk, including the Belk Inc. Pinnacle Award in 2009. Before joining Belk, Mike served as Senior Vice President, Product Development and Sourcing with Goody’s Family Clothing in Knoxville, Tenn. He spent the first 25 years of his career with the J.C. Penney Company, Inc., in Dallas.
Mike holds a B.S. of Industrial Administration and B.S. of Economics from Iowa State University. He received his Six Sigma Black Belt certification from North Carolina State University in 2010. Mike also serves on the Industry Advisory Board for the Fashion and Textile Management Program at North Carolina State University, is a board member for Friends of Fourth Ward.
